Celebrate the magic of light and storytelling with us during Tīrama Mai 2025. This year’s celebration lights up central Christchurch from 18 to 22 June, and we’re excited to offer a special way to experience it.
Join us for one-night-only evening Tram tours on Thursday 20 June. These 20-minute family-friendly rides offer a relaxing and enchanting view of the illuminated artworks across the city, travelling from Cathedral Junction to the Botanic Gardens and back. Along the way, enjoy live commentary sharing the story of Puaka-Matariki and the cultural meaning behind the season.

Tīrama Mai 2025, run by Christchurch City Council, will showcase a vibrant mix of new works and returning favourites. The event will span Te Puna o Waiwhetū Christchurch Art Gallery and The Arts Centre Te Matatiki Toi Ora, with additional displays lighting up Worcester Boulevard and Riverside Market. Installations will be on display each day from 2:30pm to 9:30pm.
