Christchurch Tram 30th Anniversary Tours

We’re celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Christchurch Tram this year!

Our Christchurch Tramway opened back on 4 February 1995 with a 2.5km circuit along Worcester, Rolleston, Armagh and New Regent Streets. The three trams in the opening day fleet – Trams 11, 152 and 178 – can still be seen operating on the central city streets today as part of our current fleet of 8 tramcars.

To celebrate our 30th anniversary we’re offering a special tour on original Tram 11 including a commentary focused on the tramway’s history! Tours are available on Tuesday 4 February 2025 departing from Cathedral Junction at 2pm, 3pm and 4pm. Seats are strictly limited, and we’ll have Tram-themed gifts and spot prizes to give away on board!

Adult tickets are $30 each and can be used to hop on and off the public trams for the rest of the day after the anniversary tours, and children and infants aged 15 years and under are free with an adult.

Book your tickets now to learn about the Christchurch Tram’s history and celebrate our 30th anniversary!
