After-Dark Punting Returns This August
Christchurch’s after-dark punting experience returns this August and September.
For a limited time — 20–23 August, 27–30 August and 3–6 September — the Avon River will be softly lit as part of the city’s Illuminate Light & Sound Experience. Settle in with a warm blanket and enjoy a peaceful winter ride through the Botanic Gardens as the trees and riverbanks take on a gentle glow.
Departing from the Antigua Boat Sheds at 6pm, 7pm and 8pm, these 30-minute rides are a chance to see the city from a different perspective. Whether you’re planning a relaxed evening with family, a date night, or simply something a little different, it’s a magical way to experience Christchurch in winter. Warm blankets are provided on board.
Along the way, our punting team will share live commentary with stories and insights about the river, gardens and surrounding area.
Evening departures are available for nine nights only, so book early to secure your seats.
