ICONIC CHRISTCHURCH EXPERIENCES

For group events with a difference, try a unique private dining experience aboard the iconic Christchurch Tramway Restaurant or private hire of our vintage tramcars. Whether you’re looking for a location to celebrate a special occasion, a way to thank your team or a unique hospitality event for your guests, our trams can accommodate groups of 20-200 people.

We can offer you a range of function and event options for your group, from private Tram hire or a drinks and canape function to breakfast, lunch, high tea or a four-course dinner.

Private Tram Hire

A great option for transferring guests between locations on the city Tram route or to show them the central city sights.

With options to move up to 200 people at one time over four trams, this product suits events of all sizes and allows easy access to popular event destinations including the Arts Centre’s Great Hall, The Terrace, Riverside Market, Botanic Gardens and the Art Gallery.

Drinks and Canapes Function

Treat your guests to a private tram tour while enjoying drinks and canapes and seeing Christchurch’s central city. Our licensed trams can accommodate up to 44 people each, and options include one-hour or two-hour functions.

This is the perfect option for pre-dinner socialising in a unique way.

Group Dining Options

Dinner Package

Departing from Cathedral Junction, your group will receive a welcome drink followed by a four-course meal (starter, entrée, main and dessert), finishing with tea or coffee. A wine pairing option is also available.

Choose from private hire of the whole tram or private hire of one of the two seating sections.

Breakfast

Treat your team or clients to breakfast aboard our historic tram while we take a tour of the central city. Choose from a continental or cooked breakfast with tea or coffee – approximately 1-1.5 hour duration.

Lunch

Your guests can enjoy a long lunch with a difference while the iconic tram makes its way around our Christchurch CBD. Your group will sit down to a three-course meal (starter, main and dessert) – approximately 1.5 hours duration.

Early Dinner

During summer we offer an early dinner which departs at 5.00pm. Your group will receive a welcome drink followed by a three-course meal (starter, main and dessert) plus tea or coffee – approximately 1.5 hours duration.

Departs: 5:00pm (during summer – between November and February)

 

High Tea

For an old fashioned treat aboard a piece of transportation history, High Tea on the Tramway Restaurant is an afternoon treat your clients or team will certainly enjoy. A selection of sandwiches, scones and sweet treats will be offered with tea or coffee – approximately 1 hour duration.

Bookings for a minimum of 24 people applies for these additional corporate group packages.

Corporate hospitality groups are welcome to pre-order drinks and can book the whole tram or one of our two sections on request.
