Booked this as part of a combo package with Christchurch attractions and really enjoyed it. It was a warm spring day which made the journey more enjoyable. Staff were friendly. Highly recommend.

We came along on a cold mid winters morning, and jumped aboard the boat, they gave us a hot water bottle and blanket to keep warm which was a nice touch. we navigated up the waterway, with a very friendly and knowledgeable guide who provided commentary on points of interest. t was very relaxing, just soaking up the beautiful scenery and tranquility, a great way to explore the river, and sights

We did this as part of a tour so I do not know about the individual price, but it was a thoroughly relaxing and fun experience. We had a friendly, funny, informative guide/punter, who kept us entertained during the smooth ride but also gave us time to simply enjoy the peacefulness (despite it being right downtown) on the small river. On a mid-Winter morning, we were the only boat on the Avon; we were told told that the river is a much more crowded during the warmer-weather months. While it was chilly during our visit, we were provided thick, warm blankets, which worked wonderfully. Floating down the river, you'll pass parks, bridges, sculptures, and interesting architecture throughout the 30 minute or so trip (up to a point and back). A highlight for me were all the ducks! There were several beautiful Paradise Duck pairs among the mallards and Canada Geese. Most kept at least a little distance from the boat, but one, the engaging "Herman," is very forward in his demands for snacks from the passengers; we did not give him anything, and he seemed to haughtily give up after quacking at us loudly for several minutes from right beside our punt. (However, whether optimistic or forgetful, he tried again on our return trip.) It would have been fun if we could've tried punting ourselves briefly during the ride, but I can only imagine how many of us would-be punters would end up in the water, not to mention the increased rate of collisions in the crowded periods.

We had such a relaxing trip this morning. Before we left chch. I was worried it might be to cold but wasn't at all actually with the hottys and blankets quite the opposite. I also wasn't certain how my young kids 3&1 would handle it but Mr3 was mesmerized and wee miss was great too kept dozing off. We found it funny that our tour guide was a Dr! But he was great at touring so I would bet would be a good Dr too thanks so much for the experience!
