Mother’s Day ideas in Christchurch

Mums are pretty awesome, and with Mother’s Day less than a month away on Sunday 12 May we have some great ideas for you to spoil your mum!

Christchurch Gondola – we’ve got the best view in town for our Mother’s Day high teas at the Christchurch Gondola! The high teas are being offered in conjunction with high tea experts Mona Vale who have created a delicious menu for this one-off event:

  • Cucumber & tomato club sandwich
  • Smoked salmon with dill crème on dark rye
  • Duck pie
  • Mini religieuse
  • Hibiscus rose mousse
  • Blueberry & orange blossom petit gateaux

At only $50 per adult and $30 per child tickets include a return trip on the Gondola, our high tea menu, Dilmah Vivid tea range or Robert Harris filter coffee plus a glass of bubbles for every Mum. Bookings are essential: contact the Mona Vale team on 03 341 7450 or at to book for either 11am or 2pm.

Tramway Restaurant – our annual Mother’s Day lunch services are back on the Tramway Restaurant! Treat Mum to a two-course meal including a glass of bubbles on arrival, appetizer, main, dessert and tea or coffee (served in our cute vintage china teacups) on our beautifully restored heritage tramcar for only $75 per person. It’s something a bit different, and with only 12 tables available for each of our two sittings (11:30am and 2:00pm) you’ll want to be in quick to nab a seat. Book via our website or phone our Christchurch Attractions booking station on 03 366 7830 to reserve your table.

Punting on the Avon – Mums are always super busy, so why not treat Mum to a relaxing punt ride down the Avon River for some time to chill? Opt for either a standard 30-minute shared ride or splash out for a 45-minute private tour. Bookings are essential for both options, and gift vouchers are also available. Make a day of it by having breakfast, brunch or lunch next door at the Antigua Boat Sheds Café.

We wish all the mums out there a happy Mother’s Day on 12 May!
